Ladies of the Light started in June 2008 when our awesome cousin Amy came to us to stay at our house for the summer, and we wanted to start a girl group for the glory of God, and we thought up this name Ladies of the Light. During that summer we published our first magazine. Although this group was mostly abandoned over the next few years as our families went through tremendous changes, we still had a burden on our hearts to encourage our peers. During the summer 2011 we found ourselves together again for the summer and looking for some purpose for our summer. We decided to start LOTL back up and that about brings you up to the present. Without further ado here is our statement of purpose:
· To glorify God with every that we do, no matter how small is very important to us. That is the main reason we started this web blog, because we thought we could glorify God by challenging ourselves and peers.
· We want to promote biblical girls as they struggle in a sinful world and we strive to support them as much as we can. We have a special burden on our hearts to help in the areas of modesty. It is extremely difficult in today’s society to find and wear appropriate apparel. 1Tim 2:9-10 “in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.” 1 Peter 3:3-4. We also believe girls need training to become wives and fruitful women in today’s society. We believe that it is now almost not accepted to answer the question “what are you going to do when you grow up?” with “I would like to be a wife and mother.” In keeping with Prov. 31 we are trying to help girls learn skill sets to become like this.
